More encampment evictions underway: Demanding accessible housing for all

cutv_admin | March 7, 2023

Since Fall 2022, Quebec’s Transport Ministry has been trying to evict a community of homeless citizens taking refuge under Montreal’s Ville-Marie Expressway. In November 2022, The Montreal Autonomous Tenants Union (MATU) marched in solidarity with those homeless citizens – calling for accessible housing for all.

Last week, on February 27th, another peaceful solidarity march took place. This time, there was much more presence from the SPVM.

Check out Stephan Boissonneault’s coverage from the march and visit our website to learn more about our Grassroots Coverage Fund – where you can apply to receive funding to cover similar events.
