March at the Royal Victoria Hospital

cutv_admin | October 26, 2021

On September 26th, the Milton Park committee, alongside several other organizations, planned a march to protest the privatization of the Royal Victoria hospital. Together they form the Royal Vic for the Public Coalition, as they advocate for the hospital to remain in the public domain. The march started at the hospital, crossed in front of the McGill Campus and ended at the Office de consultation publique de Montréal offices, where the public hearings are about to start. The Société Québécoise des Infrastructures (SQI) has several plans for the site, including giving half of the buildings to McGill University as part of its new campus. The people protesting wish for the site to become social housing or community centers. To their eyes it should belong to the public and neighborhood instead of being privatized.
