CUTV attended Montreal’s Housing Justice Convergence for its latest Metropolis episode, an event that brought together 200+ participants to tackle Canada’s housing crisis. Organized by SEIZE, the convergence united tenant unions, policy experts, developers of alternatives, funders, and advocacy groups, featuring 60+ panelists and 33 community partners for solution-focused discussions.
The event highlighted the communities most affected by the crisis—immigrants, women, single parents, elders, people with disabilities, and domestic violence survivors—and stressed that how the crisis is framed will shape future policy. Panels covered migrant justice, movement building, anti-colonial housing advocacy, tech, homelessness, tenant organizing, and accessibility, aiming to move beyond problems to practical solutions and empower activists ahead of the federal election.
