
We are seeking a video journalist to join our team for the summer and contribute to the production of original, community-centred journalism. This role is ideal for young people looking to cut their teeth on video journalism. Come spend the summer with us!
This position is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. Candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred, and have a valid SIN Number.
Responsibilities:
- Produce and edit video content for Local 514
- Collaborate with journalists, volunteers, and CUTV to complete assignments while respecting deadlines
- Conduct research, interviews, and field reporting
- Contribute to editorial direction and develop story pitches
Key assets:
- Strong interest in community-based journalism
- Basic camera operation and audio recording skills
- Comfortable appearing on-camera
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Self-motivated and proactive approach to work
- Basic experience with video production and editing software (e.g., DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, Canva)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Wage: $4,500 paid over a 12-week contract.
Workplace:
CUTV is a community TV station based on Concordia University’s downtown campus. We are an independent media organization that focuses on grassroots journalism and covering underreported issues in the Concordia and Montreal community. We also support students and members in creating video content by offering audiovisual equipment loans, studio rentals, and other video production resources.
CUTV’s offices are on the fourth floor and are accessible only via stairs.
